ENGINEERS WITHOUT BORDERS
Jubilee
Background
Engineers Without Borders (EWB) is an organization at Montana State University. We have been in operation for 14 years, working towards our mission: empowering the Khwisero, Kenya community and MSU students through engineering projects and social interactions. In the Bozeman community, we participate in events such as the Engineer-a-Thon and similar functions in order to teach young students about the value of engineering and the importance of clean water. We also hold community-wide events, such as our 5k run, which allows the local and MSU community to come together in support of humanitarian efforts. In Kenya, our organization has drilled 14 wells, installed a water distribution pipeline, constructed 2 rainwater catchment systems, and implemented 16 latrines. Wells and other water projects make clean water accessible to primary schools. If there is no well on the grounds of a school, girls are sent miles away to fetch water to bring back to their male classmates. The current sanitation measures at many primary schools allow waste riddled with pathogens to contaminate the groundwater. Our projects have positively impacted tens of thousands of schoolchildren and community members in the Khwisero region. Over the past year we evaluated the scope of our program to involve broader, more sustainable, community-based projects. We are happy to announce the establishment of the M-Koko Trust, a formal Khwisero organization that we are partnering with. The M-Koko Trust has the advantage of member continuity and cultural knowledge that EWB lacks. Our partnership with the M-Koko Trust will help the communities we work with by offering access to maintenance, knowledge about sustainably tending to the project, regularly evaluating projects, and encouraging communities to take responsibility of their projects to the fullest community capacity.

12th Annual Jubilee
This fall, EWB will be hosting our 12th annual fundraising Jubilee. This event, held at the Emerson Center, will feature a silent and live auction, both showcasing local products and services. 100% of proceeds will go towards our mission. Members of Engineers Without Borders will share their stories, and be present for the duration of the event to answer questions about our beloved club. Dinner will be provided. This is a cocktail attire event.
